Important Working From Home Habits

Working from home is not easy, specially if we are living in a small space, or if we have kids running around all day long. During these difficult times, it is important to make the best out of it and try to find a new “normal”. For this reason, it is essential to create some healthy habits that will help change your mood and increase your productivity.

1- Make the bed: You may find it a daunting task but making the bed every morning is a small task that will set the tone to do another task and then another. The main goal here is to start the day motivated and making the bed could be your first step into achieving it. Bonus point: You will have a tidy and neat environment to work from!

2- Get dressed: When you’re working from home, you may find it easier to just stay in your pyjamas all day long. This habit is not ideal since it does not put you in the right mindset to have a good and productive work day even from home. As you know, the mind a powerful tool and the best way to go into the right state of mind is to change from your sleepwear into anything else you want even if it’s simply leggings and a t-shirt.

3- Have your own work space: It doesn’t matter if you live in a mansion or in a small city apartment, designate an area that is specific for work. You don’t need to have an elaborate office setup, just make sure you have a space designated for work so that you, your significant other and your kids (if you have any) know that this is your work area and that they shouldn’t be bothering you when you’re there.

4- Establish a routine: Having a morning routine is very important. You may want to start your day with a cup of coffee, a yoga session or if you have kids, you just want to spend some quality time with them before you start working. When you work from home, it’s very easy to lose track of time which is why you should always have a routine and more importantly a plan for your day.

5- Get moving: If you are able to do so in a safe way, go outside for some fresh air and absorb all the energy out there. If not, make sure you move around the house during the day. You may squeeze in a 20-30 minute workout session that you can do from home.
